The IT Operations Cloud Engineer is a senior technologist who is responsible for providing advanced Azure support for US LBM’s 650+ server environment.  The ideal candidate will have key Azure certifications and extensive operational experience managing servers and resources in a growing Azure environment. This will include designing, implementing, monitoring, and proactively managing cloud infrastructure solutions.   


  • Create Azure virtual networks, subnets, peering, and security groups, as well as Virtual Network Gateways, Application Gateways, the Azure Front Door, the Azure Firewall, load-balancers, and Azure ExpressRoute. 

  • Plan, implement, and manage Azure IaaS / PaaS / SaaS solutions, including operating systems, storage accounts, resource groups, virtual machines, App Services, Azure SQL, Application Insights, Recovery Services Vault, ASR, and security. 

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, ARM templates, or other automation tools to streamline Azure resource provisioning and management. 

  • Provide Tier 2 and 3 technical support and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure and applications, ensuring high availability and reliability. 

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud architecture, configurations, disaster recovery and procedures. 

  • Plan and implement identity integration with Azure Entra ID, Management Groups, Subscriptions, RBAC, Access Control, Conditional Access, MFA, SSO, AAD connect, PIM, Groups, and rights assignments. 

  • Participate in the development and monitoring of automation workflows for onboarding and offboarding users.  

  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations for cost efficiency and improved performance.

Education and Experience Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field or relevant experience. 

  • Minimum of 5 years of Azure experience in a large Azure environment.  

  • Strong knowledge of Azure IAAS, PAAS, and SAAS offerings.   

  • Windows and Linux administration experience. 

  • Knowledge in cloud security (SOC, PCI, NIST).  

  • High degree of networking knowledge (protocols, virtual networks, subnets, firewalls). 

  • Familiarity with Azure Site Recovery, multi-region environments, Azure Express Routes and WAN’s.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Certifications: AZ-104 with either AZ-305 and/or AZ-400. 

  • Deep understanding of current Azure offerings. 

  • Experience in Cloud databases – Snowflake, Azure SQL, etc. 

  • Expertise in migrating on-premises servers, files, databases, and applications to an Azure cloud environment, ensuring a smooth transition and optimizing performance. 

  • Infrastructure as Code and related tools (Azure Bicep, ARM templates) 

  • Experience with AVD and AD. 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a solid attention to detail. 

  • Physical demands include sitting for extended periods, standing and walking, bending or stooping, and lifting up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 occasionally. 

  • Remote position with approximately 25% travel within the continental United States.
