Position Overview

A Tools Technician has a high level of expertise and ability to diagnose and repair a variety of power tools and equipment.

Pay Rate: $20.00 – $30.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Essential Job Duties

  • Diagnose and make repairs on pneumatic tools such as power nailers & staplers.

  • Disassemble tools and use testing devices to identify problems.

  • Work repairs on generators and compressors.

  • Follow manufacturer directions and warranty requirements when installing products.

  • Use technical manuals to determine required replacement parts and assemble tools based on manufacturer’s guidelines.

  • Track time and materials as required for each repair job.

  • Prepare paperwork and keep stock of repair parts.

  • Operate all equipment in safe and responsible manner.

  • Train entry-level technicians on proper techniques and methods.

  • Receive threaded mechanical fasteners ensuring correct item, price and quantity shipped.

  • Deliver products to customers.

  • Manage inventory stock for customers which includes recording inventory needed for replenishment, reporting to buyer items needed for order, deliver stock and restocking product as per customer request.

  • Follow all company policies and procedures.

  • Provide quality customer service.

  • Attend all training to learn new technology.

  • Cross-train in other areas to expand knowledge and expertise.

  • Comply with Company’s attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.

  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities  

  • Ability to work repairs on generators and compressors

  • Minimum education required – High school diploma or GED

  • Minimum experience required – 1+ years of hands-on experience repairing power tools, and/or combination of power tool repair training from a vocational school

  • Good mechanical skills and understanding of schematics and diagrams

  • Must be computer literate, organized and accurate

  • Occasional heavy lifting up to 70 lbs.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time

  • Must have knowledge of threaded mechanical fasteners

  • Ability to work overtime as needed
